Robert M Clark Obituary

Robert M Clark passed away February 27, 2009, doing what he loved, snowmobiling with his brother and friends. Robert had a great sense of humor, he was extremely kind and giving to young and old alike. Robert had a love of running, and he helped coach the Soda Springs High School Cross Country team. He will be remembered for running and biking alongside numerous athletes coaching and encouraging them until they reached the finish line.

Robert loved to do things with his family. They ran and ran and ran together, water and snow-skied together and laughed and loved together. He often joked about being surrounded by women, but he truly loved his wife and daughters and was extremely proud of them and their accomplishments.

Robert was a great entertainer and comedian! He sang, he danced, he made everyone around him laugh. He was extremely musical. He will be remembered for playing his guitar, singing the songs he had written, and making us laugh til we cried. We are still debating which song was our favorite, “My Dog Rusty,” “Mokie and His English Gal,” or “Nag, Nag, Nag.”

He was born in Logan, Utah, the son of Marion and Janice Clark. He was the third of their four children. He was raised in Soda Springs, and graduated from Soda Springs High School in 1980. He served in the London East Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He later attended Ricks College, where he met and later married Sue Chandler on June 18, 1987, in the Boise Temple. They have three beautiful daughters, Kaycie, 18; Quincie, 16; and Sydnie, 12.

He was currently serving as the 1st Ward Elder’s Quorum President, and he previously served in the Stake Sunday School presidency, activities chairman., and as Sunday School and Primary teachers.

He worked at the Monsanto facility in Soda Springs for the past 20 years. Robert was loved by all who knew him. We will remember his love, his kindness, his concern for others, and his zany wit, his facial expressions, his body contortions, and his dancing!

He is survived by his loving wife Sue Chandler and his three lovely daughters, of Soda Springs; his parents Marion and Janice Clark; and siblings Lyle (Melanie) Clark, Zanesville, Ohio; Wade (Pam) Clark, Soda Springs; Patti (Kurt) Norgard, Pocatello, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.

  1. I'm sorry to hear of this tragic accident. I had only meet your family twice, and can say you are some amazing people. Nick has had several chances to play with Robert in the snow and always talked so highly of how great of a man he was. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time.

  4. The Mendenhall family will always remember the family trips to Lake Mead, Lake Powell, and Mohave and even Brownly with very fond memories of Robert. We just feel so fortunate to have shared so many great times with so many great people. Robert will always be remembered as the life of the party. The boys just loved Robert and the time he spent helping them learn how to water ski. He just had the ability to make each one of them feel special in his own little way. Like the personal touch he put on the little songs he would make up about each one of them when he would break out the guitar and sing on the beach. Darik and Kellan have both taught themselves to play the guitar, as a result of Roberts influence. You guys were with us when we purchased our boat what a fun day. That was just the beginning of so many great times shared with the Clarks on the water. It really did change our lives.
We remember that time at the Sandy Beach when Robert was racing down the sand mountain with the intentions of diving into the lake and coming up a little short, face planting in full dive position a few feet from the waters edge. That was hysterical. Todd remembers pulling Robert skiing and Sue recording an epic event, But Todd thinks there was something missing and only Sue knows what.

The Clark family is very special and we feel so blessed to have you as some of our most cherished friends.

We are so very sad for your loss. Robert was truly a great man.

Todd, Kim, Darik, Kellan, and Zach
